Emotionally Intelligent Communication (Self-Talk)

Join us on Zoom for a 90-minute Leader Lab—part conversation, part practice—where we explore a leadership idea together, work through it in small breakout groups, and return with insights to take back into our lives.

In April, we begin the Trust theme with a focus on emotionally intelligent self-talk. The way we speak to ourselves shapes how we interpret situations, how we show up with others, and how much trust we build in our relationships. When things feel uncertain or uncomfortable, our minds often fill in the blanks with assumptions or criticism—stories that may not actually be true.

In this session, we'll explore three common patterns of self-talk that quietly undermine trust: harsh self-criticism, imposter talk, and assumption talk—the stories we tell ourselves about what others might be thinking or intending. Together, we'll practice noticing these patterns and using a simple phrase—"The story I'm telling myself is…"—to create space between facts and interpretation.

Leader Lab is a relaxed place where entrepreneurs, managers, professionals, and other thoughtful people come together to strengthen self-leadership and emotional intelligence. Whether you're navigating complex decisions at work, building stronger relationships, or simply curious about how we communicate with ourselves and others, you'll leave with insights you can bring back into your leadership and everyday life.
